The '73-76 strut rod bushings are thicker than the '72 and earlier bushings, even comparing the OE rubber bushings. The poly strut rod bushings are based off of the later '73+ bushings, so they're too thick for the '72 and earlier strut rods. I have just about every bushing, rebuilt ball joint, stronger tie rods, etc.. my car drives car with no bad noise or side effects.
