Slow slip events are not like regular earthquakes, which last for tens of seconds, but instead last for days to weeks. These events locate just below the locked portions of the fault, and are accompanied high frequency vibration or ‘tremor WebThis map shows areas of seismic risk from high (red) to low (grayish-green). The map is from a 2007 report (click here to download) on seismic design categories in Washington. The map also shows potentially active faults from a separate 2014 report (click here to download). Earthquakes occur nearly every day in Washington.
